Themed “Chinese Civilization and the Two Rivers Culture,” the competition aimed to help Macao’s youth gain a deeper understanding of the history and significance of the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers – the two mother rivers of the Chinese nation. It sought to enhance their knowledge of Chinese culture and showcase the nation’s strategic achievements in the governance and conservation of these river basins.

The event attracted nearly 16,000 students from 36 school across Macao, marking a record high in both participation and number of schools.

Chen Lexu, the awarded student, claimed that he not only gained in-depth knowledge of river culture, but also appreciated the cultural confidence reflected in historical evolution, geographical identities, and cultural symbols through this event. As a law student at the Macau University of Science and Technology, he hopes to integrate his academic expertise in the future to continue promoting river culture and practicing ecological justice.
