Dormitory Vanguard” consists of two sub-teams. The first sub-team is the existing “Campus Safety Inspection Team,” abbreviated as the “Safety Inspection Team.” The second sub-team is the newly established “Dormitory Volunteer Work Team,” abbreviated as the “Volunteer Work Team.” Together, these two sub-teams form a dedicated volunteer service team for Macau University of Science and Technology, committed to maintain campus safety and promote dormitory culture.

That is: 1. “Dormitory Vanguard – Campus Safety Inspection Team,” and 2. “Dormitory Vanguard –Volunteer Work Team.” The “Dormitory Vanguard” will hereinafter be referred to as “the Team.”

1. “Dormitory Vanguard – Campus Safety Inspection Team”

l   Introduction:

The predecessor of this sub-team was the “Campus Safety Inspection Team,” established in 2016. To align with campus dormitory safety and crisis management, several positions such as floor leaders, deputy floor leaders, regional representatives, and room leaders are appointed in each dormitory building to assist the Dormitory and Life Experience Team of Student Affairs Office with tasks related to dormitory safety and crisis management, such as “Student Dormitory Fire Drills.” The “Dormitory Vanguard Team – Campus Safety Inspection Team” changes members annually based on the dormitory occupancy of students.

l   Responsibilities:

The main duties include assisting the Student Affairs Office in organizing “Student Dormitory Fire Drills” to improve students’ awareness of dormitory safety. Additionally, in terms of traffic safety, the sub-team helps with campus traffic safety weeks and promoting traffic safety laws each year, aiming to enhance students’ awareness of legal compliance, setting a good example, and contributing to campus road safety.

 

2. “Dormitory Pioneer Team – Volunteer Work Team”

l   Introduction:

The Dormitory Volunteer Work Team is a newly established group, recruiting all resident students for the academic year starting in September 2023, with team members selected through resume reviews and interviews. Participants must be resident students for the current academic year, with new members recruited at the start of each academic year while retaining existing members, thus forming a volunteer team of both new and returning students.

l   Responsibilities:

The primary tasks involve assisting the Dormitory and Life Experience Team of Student Affairs Office with dormitory management, holiday dormitory decorations, organizing dormitory activities, and promoting dormitory cultural. Through these activities, the team aims to enhance personal character and knowledge, strengthen the sense of belonging to the school and dormitory.
