About the Social Service Team

In order to enhance student engagement in societal initiatives, the Macau University of Science and Technology established the MUST Social Service Team in March 2014. This initiative aims to cultivate students' organizational skills, leadership capabilities, and enthusiasm for community involvement by offering diverse opportunities for active participation in social activities within Macao.

Through a structured training program, students have the opportunity to advance from junior to senior volunteer roles. This progression allows students to move beyond mere acquisition of knowledge and skills, towards developing competencies in organizing activities and fostering positive habits. With consistent practice, students can elevate their capabilities to the senior volunteer level, where they become adept at managing schedules, coordinating activities, and cultivating teamwork and communication skills. This process enables students to embody the core values of community service, ultimately transforming them into proficient and seasoned volunteers. The provision of voluntary services to college students should be characterized by a progressive, innovative, and adaptable approach. College volunteers are encouraged to leverage their strengths, channel their enthusiasm, contribute to societal well-being, and enhance their sense of self-worth. The Social Service Team at MUST is dedicated to motivating college students to utilize their free time productively, engage actively in volunteer work within their local communities and beyond, and make a positive impact on others. By embracing these opportunities, students are better equipped to integrate into society effectively.

The Student Affairs Office at MUST aims to enhance the recognition of team members engaged in voluntary work and improve their skills in organizing activities. To achieve this, professional staff members serving as tutors will conduct training courses for all members of the Social Service Team. The training will cover topics such as Basic Knowledge of Voluntary Works and Skills, Professional Operations and Regulations of Volunteers, Concept and Development of Global Volunteers, and Organization and Management of Activities. Additionally, the Student Affairs Office will facilitate opportunities for members to gain practical experience and exposure to various social services in Macao by arranging voluntary service placements with partner organizations. Through these initiatives, students are expected to apply their knowledge, develop their skills, and contribute positively to society.
