In order to improve the awareness of dormitory safety and the response capabilities of fire emergency, and enhance the understanding of fire evacuation procedures, Dormitory and Life Experience Team of Student Affair Office form Macau University of Science and Technology held a “Fire Drill” for the 2025/2026 academic year on 25th October, 2025 (Saturday) at 9:30AM. The drill was carried out smoothly and achieved the expected results.


Residents Participate Orderly in the Fire Drill
The 2025/2026 academic year fire drill was conducted across four student dormitories on campus, with approximately 2,500 residents participated. The drill simulated a fire occurred in a dormitory room, with a resident discover the fire and call the security personnel to report it. When the fire alarm alarmed, residents were required to evacuate quickly from their dormitory rooms to a designated assembly area following the escape route.


Dormitory Vanguard demonstrated teamwork by assisted in the evacuation
The “Dormitory Vanguard” under the Dormitory and Life Experience Team of Student Affair Office played a crucial role in the fire drill, response of guiding the escape routes, assist with evacuation and maintaining the order. The drills on each dormitory floor were successfully completed, fully demonstrated the high level of cooperation and teamwork among the residents. The students who participated in the drill said that through the practical drills, they gained the understanding of emergency response procedures and enhanced fire prevention awareness and self-protection capabilities, which is helpful for daily life and the ability of responding to emergencies in the future.

Summarize the experience gained from the exercise and continuously optimize dormitory safety management
After the fire drill, representatives from the Student Affair Office, the General Affair Office and the Fire Services Bureau conducted a meeting to summarize the fire drill, in order to improve the emergency procedure and enhance the ability to respond to emergencies. The Student Affairs Office of Macau University of Science and Technology places great emphasis on the safety awareness of residents in fire prevention, theft prevention, and anti-fraud. They will continue to consistently post educational posters, and dormitory staff will regularly conduct room safety inspections and educational activities to ensure the safety of residents and to prevent potential hazards.
