The MUST Social Service Team visited the “Centro Ambiental Alegria” of Environmental Protection Bureau

To enhance public understanding of waste categorization and resource recycling, it is essential for all sectors of society to prioritize environmental protection and embrace the principles of sustainable living. In support of this initiative, the Social Service Team from the Student Affairs Office took proactive measures by sending 6 team members to participate in an environmentally-focused guided tour organized by the " Centro Ambiental Alegria," a division of the Environmental Protection Bureau, on October 5, 2024.

During the activity, the team members first engaged in thematic learning about waste classification, gaining an in-depth understanding of the classification methods for plastic, metal, and paper waste. Through clear explanations and demonstrations, the team members learned about the various treatment methods for different types of waste and mastered how to correctly classify and dispose of them in their daily lives. This not only helps improve resource utilization but also effectively reduces environmental pollution. To strengthen their understanding of environmental protection concepts, the team members actively participated in the hands-on process of waste recycling. They demonstrated considerable creativity by using materials such as plastic bottles, newspapers, and metal cans, which were recycled on-site. They created numerous practical and eco-friendly items for everyday use. Through waste recycling, the team members not only enhanced their understanding of the reuse of environmental resources but also experienced the practical significance of a circular economy.

The event has garnered significant attention and support from all sectors of the Macao community. Following the event, team members expressed that environmental protection is not merely an advocacy but also a responsibility. As members of the social service team, they will embody the spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress.” They aim to leverage their strengths to encourage more teachers, students, and the public to engage in environmental protection activities, collectively promoting a sustainable green future.
