Campus dormitories hold fire drills to enhance residents’ resilience

To enhance the safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of residents in the dormitories and to deepen their understanding of evacuation procedures in case of a fire, Dormitory and Life Experience Team of Student Affairs Office of Macau University of Science and Technology held a fire drill for the 2024/2025 academic year on 9thNovember, 2024 (Saturday) at 9:30 AM. The drill was carried out smoothly and achieved the expected results. It is particularly meaningful that the drill coincided on the National Fire Fighting Day in China.

 

 

Residents Participate Orderly in the Fire Drill

The 2024/2025 academic year fire drill was conducted across five student dormitories on campus, with approximately 3,000 residents participated. The drill simulated a fire occurred in a dormitory room, with a resident discovering the fire and called the security personnel to report it. When the fire alarm alarmed, residents were required to evacuate quickly from their dormitory rooms to a designated assembly area following the escape route.

The " Dormitory Vanguard - Campus Safety Inspection Team under the Student Affairs Office's Dormitory and Life Experience Team played their respective roles in guiding the route and evacuation work during the fire drill. This ensured that the fire drill in each dormitory was completed smoothly in about 10 minutes, reflecting that the residents' seriousness and spirit of teamwork. Residents who participated in the fire drill believe that the exercise allows them to further clarify their escape routes in emergencies, which helps to improve their daily fire prevention awareness and evacuation procedures, providing significant assistance in their current and future lives, and they consider it very practical.

 

 

 

Residents Seriously Participate in the Fire Drill

After the fire drill, representatives from the Student Affair Office, the General Affairs Office and the Fire Services Bureau conducted a meeting to summarize the fire drill, communicating improvements to the overall process and equipment. This is to enhance their emergency response capabilities and dormitory safety awareness in the face of urgent events. The Student Affairs Office of Macau University of Science and Technology places great emphasis on the safety awareness of residents in fire prevention, theft prevention, and anti-fraud. They will continue to consistently post educational posters, and dormitory staff will regularly conduct room safety inspections and educational activities to ensure the safety of residents and to prevent potential hazards.
