Resident Students “Taking a Walk through the Streets of Macao” to Learn History of Macao
To help resident students understand the local history and culture of Macau and to integrate into Macau life more quickly, Dormitory and Life Experience Team of the Student Affair Office organized resident students to participate in the "Taking a Walk through the Streets of Macao" guided tour, which was hosted by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and undertaken by the Oral History Association of Macao. Through this activity, resident students were able to learn more about the history and cultural characteristics of Macau.
The " Taking a Walk through the Streets of Macao" was held on the afternoons of 27th and 29th September, with two visiting routes: "Affection for the Macao Basic Law" and "Footprints of Eminent Historical Figures of Macao". The "Affection for the Macao Basic Law" route mainly included visits to the Commemorative Gallery of the Macao Basic Law, the Lotus Square, and the Sculpture Park of the Chinese Ethnics. Students visiting this route could gain a deeper understanding of the current situation and history of Macau, and promote the core values of patriotism and love for Macau.
The "Footprints of Eminent Historical Figures of Macao" route mainly included visits to the Mandarin's House, the Graves of Robert Morrison and His Family, and the Former Residence of Ye Ting. Students visiting this route could learn about the footprints of Chinese and foreign historical figures in Macau and the traces they left behind, thereby drawing on the experience of predecessors and gaining inspiration for success.
The two-day "Taking a Walk through the Streets of Macao" activities took place on sunny days, and the process was relaxed and enjoyable. The resident students expressed that through this activity, they were able to further understand the rich and diverse history and culture of Macau, deepen their understanding of Macau's cultural characteristics and urban development, broaden their horizons, and gain a lot. Dormitory and Lifestyle Experience Team of Student Affair Office has been committed to organizing different adaptation activities for university students at the beginning of each academic year, hoping that resident students can adapt to university life more quickly, make more new friends, expand their social circles, and be beneficial to their future studies and life in Macau.
