To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) and the 11th anniversary of the establishment of the Social Service Team (SST), while promoting the spirit of volunteerism, the Social Service Team under the Student Affairs Office hosted a carnival titled "25 Years of Excellence: Social Service Companions Writing a Splendid Chapter" on March 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the N101. Centered around the core themes of "Inclusive Harmony and Sustainable Development," the event was organized in collaboration with the Students' Union, Faculty Students' Association, and various student association. It featured 23 interactive booths and exciting stage performances, attracting over 600 students and faculty members. The event fostered a warm and joyful atmosphere, strengthening campus bonds while spreading the message of green philanthropy, injecting more vitality and care into the campus.
The opening ceremony of the themed carnival took place at 3:30 PM. Distinguished guests included Vice President Dr. Kwong Ying Wa, Head of the Student Affairs Office Dr. Wong Ka Weng, Duty Manager Ms. Tam Kit Leng; and the mentors, Ms. Cheong Sin Teng, Ms. Hao, Chi Wan, and Mr. Leng, Fei Ieong; Social Service Team President Yang Wendi, Vice Presudents Ma Lening, Chen Yifei, and Sun Xinyi, Students' Union Director General Yan Zhan, Secretary-General Wang Zixia, and representatives from 20 student clubs. During the ceremony, guests and club representatives completed a themed poster using puzzle pieces, symbolizing collaborative efforts to create a better campus.

In her speech, Ms. Tam Kit Leng reflected on the journey of the Social Service Team, which has consistently adhered to the philosophy of "serving and giving back to society" since its inception. To date, the team has organized or participated in over 150 volunteer, charity, and environmental activities, accumulating more than 1,200 service hours and nurturing over 400 outstanding members. She further expressed her hope that, on the occasion of the university's anniversary, the entire campus community would recognize the profound value of volunteer service through the carnival and integrate kindness and goodwill into daily life, contributing to a positive campus and society.
Highlights of the event included the "Braille Writing Experience" and "DIY Moss Terrarium" booths, meticulously planned by the Social Service Team. Participants experienced the daily lives of visually impaired individuals through activities such as blindfolded Braille writing and tactile challenges, fostering inclusivity and understanding between able-bodied and disabled individuals. The SST members guided participants in creating miniature terrariums, teaching sustainable living practices in a fun and interactive way. Additionally, the stage area featured entertaining games like "Hand-Mouth Mismatch" and "Number Grab," creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere filled with laughter. The event was promoted through both online and offline channels, incorporating interactive elements such as "Stamp Collection for Prizes" and "Social Media Check-ins." Participants could earn stamps by completing tasks at various booths to exchange for gifts, and those who collected all stamps were eligible for a lucky draw to win specially prepared prizes. The event adhered to the green campus initiative, using recyclable materials and integrating environmental concepts to further enhance its social value.
In her closing remarks, Social Service Team President Yang Wendi stated that the event not only added a warm touch to the anniversary celebrations but also deepened the campus community's understanding and support for public service. Looking ahead, the team will continue to explore innovative service models, making volunteerism a defining feature of MUST and injecting more positive energy into society. Students' Union Director General Yan Zhan also noted that the collaboration between the Social Service Team and various student clubs demonstrated the powerful impact of teamwork. This carnival was not only a joyous celebration but also an important platform for students to showcase their talents and compassion, as well as a vivid embodiment of social responsibility. The carnival concluded successfully at 8:00 PM, with participants gathering for a group photo to commemorate this meaningful anniversary celebration.
