2026/02/03

The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and the Preparatory Office for the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, and the 9th National Special Olympic Games in Macao held an award ceremony for the "Star Volunteer Commendation Scheme," Writing Contest, and Drawing Contest at Kao Yip Middle School on January 29th. The ceremony aimed to commend outstanding volunteers and award-winning students from both competitions. Twenty-nine students from Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze prizes in the Star Volunteer Commendation Scheme, while fifteen students received First, Second, and Third prizes in the Writing Contest. Reflections from Award-Winning Students:

First Prize in The 15th NG and The 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG Writing Contest

Ma Mingyi Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Year 1

I am honored to receive the First Prize in this writing contest. This honor is an encouragement for me and, more importantly, motivation to keep moving forward. This was the first real award ceremony I have ever attended, my first time standing on a podium. Five months ago, I traveled over two thousand kilometers to study at university in Macao. I set foot on this new land with trepidation and hope, never imagining I could gain such substantial recognition far away from home. This has strengthened my belief that one must have faith in their own capabilities. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to the National Games and for the passion and inspiration it brought, allowing me to capture the glory of the arena and convey the power of sports through writing. In the future, I will continue to use the pen as a medium to pay tribute to every effort and passion!

Gold Prize of the Star Volunteer Commendation Scheme

Xu Xuefeng Faculty of Innovation Engineering, Year 4

As a venue guide volunteer for the badminton event at the National Games for Persons with Disabilities, this experience gave me a deep understanding of the integration between sportsmanship and humanistic care. While guiding athletes into the venue and coordinating event procedures, I witnessed the resilience and passion of para-athletes surpassing physical limits. Every smile during guidance and patient answer was a practice of the principles of "equality, participation, and sharing." Receiving the Gold Prize for volunteering is not only an honor but also a responsibility. It reminds me that serving others requires both professionalism and warmth. I am grateful to the university for providing this platform. This valuable volunteering experience will become one of my most precious memories from university life, inspiring me to continue spreading love and positive energy in the future.
