The Sharing Session “Date with Cambridge” hosted by the Student Affairs Office of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), was successfully held at Block N of MUST on March 26, 2025. Mr. Rowan Kitt, Fellow & Development Director, Queens’ College, University of Cambridge, and Ms. Deng, Shiman, alumna of MUST, were invited as guest speakers to share information about study and life experiences, postgraduate application, and scholarship opportunities at Queens’ College.
MUST’s Vice President Chair Professor Tam Kwong Hang welcomed Mr. Rowan Kitt and Ms. Deng, Shiman in his opening speech. He introduced the Dr. Liu Chak Wan Scholarship, established by MUST and the University of Cambridge, and highlighted the inspiring news that Queens’ College alumnus was awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize for the groundbreaking artificial intelligence model. Vice President Tam encouraged students to seize international opportunities, broaden their horizons, and contribute meaningfully to Macao and the country.

Mr. Rowan Kitt introduced Queens’ College
Mr. Rowan Kitt introduced Queens’ College’s campus culture, historic architecture, beautiful learning and living environment, and diverse extracurricular activities. He noted that over 60% of the Queens’ postgraduate students hail from around the world and different courses. He also introduced that two MUST graduates are currently studying at Queens’ College under the Dr. Liu Chak Wan Scholarship and reminded attendees that applications for the 2025/2026 Academic Year close on April 30.
Sharing by alumna Ms. Deng, Shiman
Ms. Deng, Shiman, a 2023 graduate from MUST’s Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, is currently pursuing a Master’s in Education (Psychology and Education) at Queens’ College of the University of Cambridge as a recipient of the Dr. Liu Chak Wan Scholarship in Academic Year 2024/2025. She shared her life at Queens’, academic journey, and scholarship application experience, encouraging students to dare to try, embrace every opportunity at MUST, and plan proactively. She also expressed hope to see more MUST faces at Queens’ College.
During the Q&A session, students actively raised questions which were thoughtfully addressed by Mr. Kitt and Ms. Deng. The sharing session concluded with warm applause, and deepening students’ understanding of Queens’ College and postgraduate applications.
Macau University of Science and Technology has partnered with the University of Cambridge to offer the “Dr. Liu Chak Wan Scholarships” commencing the academic year 2024/2025, to support three graduates of MUST to undertake Master Degrees at the Queens’ College, University of Cambridge each year. The scholarships are made possible thanks to the generosity of MUST’s Chancellor, Dr. Liu Chak Wan, and will cover the cost of the recipient’s course fees and living expenses in Queens’ College, Cambridge.
