On the afternoon of January 20th, 2025, the Social Service Team of Macau University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine Students’ Association, successfully held a series of mental health activities called "Worry-free Fun Paradise" on campus. The aim was to raise students' understanding of mental health issues, reduce inner self consumption, and promote a positive and healthy lifestyle. With the increasing pressure of study and life, mental health issues are becoming increasingly prominent among college students. Internal friction, also known as inner self consumption, not only affects an individual's emotions and mental health, but may also lead to problems such as decreased learning efficiency and tense interpersonal relationships. It is hoped that through this activity, students can be helped to identify and cope with internal friction, and improve their mental health level.
This activity has designed multiple parts, including games, special lecture, handicraft workshops, etc., aiming to help students relieve emotions and stress through good interactive experiences and hands-on practice. At the beginning of the activity, under the guidance of the host and staff, students participated in the creative process of plasticine-painted. Everyone used plasticine to shape their own emotions and worked together to complete the framed artwork, creating a relaxed and lively atmosphere on site.
Subsequently, Ms. Lao, Chao Kei, the psychological counselor of the Student Affairs Office, delivered a special lecture on the theme of "Creating Inner Harmony", which delved into the causes, manifestations and impacts of internal friction on individuals, while sharing practical coping strategies. The students actively participated in the discussion, provided enthusiastic feedback on site, and the atmosphere was lively and resonant. They shared each other's stories and had in-depth exchanges during the interaction.
In the following handicraft workshop part, students wrote down their own troubles and blessings for others. As the activity drew to a close, they threw the written troubles into the shredder, symbolizing the release of pressure, and then exchanged blessings with others. Finally, the students made a calming sleep aid sachet and designed a mood recycling bottle. Throughout the entire activity, everyone enthusiastically participated and created many exquisite works, leaving each other with beautiful memories.
After the activity, many students gave high praise to it. They all expressed that they have learned practical methods to deal with internal friction and deepened their understanding of the importance of mental health. The successful holding of this activity not only raised students' awareness of mental health, but also laid a solid foundation for the construction of mental health.
