Residential Students Gather to Solve Riddles and Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday, where it is customary for people in China to admire lanterns and solve riddles to mark the occasion. In the afternoon of 5th February,2023, the Student Affairs Office held a Lantern Festival event at the student dormitories, inviting residential students to enjoy the lanterns and have fun while solving the riddles. This event deepened the residential students' understanding of the charm of traditional Chinese cultural festivals and also brought them closer together to celebrate the Lantern Festival.

 

On the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, residential students and dormitory staff worked together to decorate the dormitories with colorful lanterns, ribbons, and ornaments, adding a festive atmosphere to the living spaces. The riddle-solving activity has always been popular among residential students, and on the day of the event, it attracted a large number of students to participate in the riddle competition. Under the lanterns, students looked at the colorful paper strips inscribed with riddles, reading the riddle statements and guessing the answers. Some students guessed correctly on the spot, beaming with joy, while others discussed among themselves. The atmosphere was filled with joy and celebration, allowing residential students to experience the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival culture amidst the hustle and bustle and happiness.

 

 

 

Residential students who participated in the event mentioned that the process of guessing riddles stimulated their thinking and promoted the development of logical thinking. They also felt the essence of traditional Chinese culture, enriched their residential life, enhanced emotional communication among students, and experienced the lively and joyful atmosphere of the festival.
