On-campus Dormitories Conduct "Fire Drill" to Enhance Residents' Escape Awareness
To strengthen the evacuation response capabilities and self-protection abilities of residents in emergency situations, to master safety escape knowledge, and to deepen the understanding of how to evacuate quickly, safely, and orderly in the event of a fire, the Student Affairs Office annually invites representatives from the Fire Services Bureau to guide the "Fire Drill" in campus student dormitories. The "Fire Drill" for the 2022/2023 academic year was successfully completed on 4th March 2023, with nearly 2,500 residents participating.
Residents participate orderly in the "Fire Drill"
The "Fire Drill" in the student dormitories officially began at 9:30 AM, simulating a fire in a dormitory room, with the resident who discovered the fire calling the security personnel. When the alarm bell rang, all residents quickly evacuated from their dormitory rooms to the designated assembly area according to the evacuation route. During the "Fire Drill," residents walked to the assembly point in an orderly and rapid manner, with the entire evacuation count completed in about 10 minutes, reflecting the spirit of seriousness and teamwork among the residents. The entire "Fire Drill" process went smoothly, achieving the expected results. After the drill, a meeting was held with representatives from the Fire Services Bureau to summarize and improve communication, thereby enhancing the frontline workers' response capabilities in handling emergency incidents and ensuring safety.
Residents who participated in the "Fire Drill" believe that it allows them to learn emergency response skills in the event of a sudden fire, become familiar with fire escape routes and techniques, enhancing their daily fire prevention awareness, which is very helpful for both current collective living and future independent living, and they find it very practical.
